In just four years, Petaluma’s Salute to American Graffiti has become one of the premier vehicle events in Northern California. In 2009, over 20,000 visitors from at least 16 states and four foreign countries made the trip here specifically to participate.
Inspired by the ownership of our own 1961 Ford Galaxie Cop Car, a clone of the one seen in American Graffiti, Holstein’s Herd is for American made emergency vehicles with no restriction on year of manufacture. Officer Holstein, just in case you haven’t ever seen American Graffiti, is the name of the cop in the movie.
We are seeking police, fire, and ambulance vehicles, either original or created (novelty). Holstein’s Herd vehicles will be located in a special area and will participate in a special Code 3 parade on May 15.
We expect that Herd registration will be limited to between 30 and 40 vehicles and unlike regular entry for Salute 2010, which won’t be available until early February; emergency vehicle owners can submit their registration application right now! Our goal is to have as an attractive a cross-section of all three types of vehicles as possible, so we will not be confirming any entries until late January at which time we will notify you immediately. We will, however, confirm receipt of your entry form. During selection, preference will be given to those entries received first in each category.
